OVERVIEW There are two main circular trails and these may be done either individually or as a combined ride.
On your bike Two main circular trails can be done individually or as a combined ride. The 10km route, although steep in places, is still suitable for beginners. A mother of a climb back up from the Olifants River is sure to tax you to the max. Those in the mood for technical riding could opt for a longer 14km trail, where rocky terrain and steep drop-offs will definitely test their balance and skills. A multitude of rough farm roads along the Groot Winterhoek ranges add endless riding possibilities. Off the bike Natural springs, spectacular mountain pools and waterfalls, hiking, fishing or paragliding. Beaverlac is set amongst stark and rocky cliffs on a 3,700ha orange farm where you will be sharing the fresh mountain air with majestic black eagles and chacma baboons. Cool off next to Beaverlac’s natural spring or hike down to the waterfalls and rock pools of the Olifants and Ratel River. If you’re in the mood, fresh-water angling for elusive bass and yellowfish adds to the outdoor options. Porterville, at the bottom of the mountain, is a world-famous paragliding and hang-gliding destination.
