OVERVIEW This ride can be done from either side. I have done it from the Groenvlei side towards the lagoon mouth. I assume that it would be better doing it the other way around because the sun is not in your eyes and If the time and tide is right you can finish off at Chef Alma and have a cold beer (please remember they close at 5pm on most days, except on Wednesday that they are opened until late).On your bike This ride includes brilliant dirt road for almost 3 km that meanders through indigenous trees and lots of Fynbos. Expect to climb lots if you are doing it from the Groenvlei side. There is also a briliant technical section at the end towards the beach. The beach ride can't get any better. Solid packed sand with almost 50 metres wide beach to ride. It feels like a highway, and managed 42 kph . There are lots of rocks to jump and dodge in certain sections (great fun)!Off the bike Hike the forest trails, bring your binoculars and go for trogons and touracos, or pack a picnic basket to enjoy in the deep-forest surround sound. The Rheenendal Ramble takes you to the artists and crafters in the area, while the coastal town of Knysna will entice you with a range of action and leisure activities. Restaurants, farm stalls, art galleries, craft outlets, delis and cafés range from the quirky and quaint to drop-dead elegant. CONTACT: Route Description: Courtesy of Ben Olivier.
