OVERVIEW ]
This race takes place around the early part of May. You set out from the “Calitzdorp Spa” hot springs. A very short climb will bring you onto level gravel road with a few short hills to Calitzdorp – 20km away. After Calitzdorp the scenery changes completely and you enter the hills and valleys beyond Groenfontein and include a couple of long climbs. The second half takes you down into another valley toward the famous “Rooi koppies” after which you’ll cross over Route 62 again and pin your ears flat for the final flattish section back to the Spa. For the family or less energetic, the 40km provides a flat and easy semi circular option.

GRADING: The 100km is non technical and fairly moderate and the 40km easy.
DURATION: 4h30min for the 100km.

FACILITIES: Huge and secure parking at the Spa. Hot pools to sooth those aching legs. Restaurant and Bar. Loadsa fresh air.
BEWARE OF: Watch out for Ostriches being herded between camps. The downhill after the last long climb needs to be treated with respect – loose rocks could see you catapulting down the “high” way…
