ROUTE NAME - Matroosberg Private Nature Reserve MTB Trail] |
On your bike
The ride constitutes a relatively easy 15 km circuit along a cross-country trail traversing the foothills of the Matroosberg Mountains. There is a minimum of climbing and at least 60 percent of the rouge is along singletrack. Trail surfaces vary from thick sand, rocky gravel and hard-packs to riverbeds and farm roads, so there’s a little bit of everything. The annual Matroosberg Gravity Adventure Festival takes place during the third weekend of February, with both a downhill and cross-country course to choose from. The XC or cross-country train is as per the description above and is suitable for all levels of riders, but the downhill track is a different story. The course starts high up on Matroosberg Peak, the highest point in the Boland, before dropping an awesome 1,081 m across a distance of 11 km. The course follows a dual-track 4x4 route and should not be attempted by riders without the necessary experience
