[ OVERVIEW ]
On your bike
Although not expansive, the Kap River Reserve boasts a pleasant ride through a unique riverine ecosystem with a distinctly tropical character to it. Bordered by the Kap River in the west, the Fish River in the east and the Indian Ocean in the south, this 670 ha reserve has great MTB potential. Although there are currently no formal MTB trails, the landscape is ripe for off-road exploration with various route options along gravel roads and game tracks.
Off your bike
The reserve, nesting against the gorgeous Eastern Cape Sunshine Coast, boasts diverse vegetation, including ancient cycads and giant yellowwood and ficus trees lining the river banks. Giraffe, impala, red hartebeest, reedbuck, bushbuck and warthog are common within the reserve. Canoe trail bookings may be made through the friendly staff at the main office and affordable accommodation is available to those wishing to spend a bit more time here.
