[ OVERVIEW ]

On your bike
The two self-guided MTB routes have free riding opportunities down sloping sandstone rock faces. Cycle on dirt tracks, hugging the contours, with the lure of one testing section which takes riders up into the mountains.

Off your bike

Mountain-biking is only one of five adventure sports activities offered by this venue. The huge sandstone boulders so characteristic of the Free State give way to krantz precipices where caving, abseiling and rock-climbing are done as well as hiking.

The geology of this area resulted in the formation of the Waenhuis Cave, which was big enough to hide many Boer women and children with their wordly goods from British forces engaged in Kitchener’s ‘scorched earth’ policy. Miraculously, this cave hid them for the duration of the Boer War. Those unable to hide were doomed to concentration camps. Have a look around but don’t try to go in too deep. You may never come out.

FACILITIES: Self-catering accommodation with lapa, indoor fireplace and a well-equipped kitchen sleeps twenty guests. Two chalets with linen provided and fully equipped kitchens sleep eight guests each.
