With its easy hard-pack, dirt farm tracks, gentle gradients and numerous ride combinations, this is the perfect venue to introduce children and novice mountain bikers to off-road cycling. There is a proliferation of farm dams and irrigation channels, due to the close proximity of the Jukskei River, which forms one of the borders of Northern Farm. A special treat is to hear the haunting call or perhaps even see the rare African Fish Eagle, attracted by the abundance of water. This is a working farm, so while cycling you can observe farm activities, like the fields being harvested for cattle feed. There are sweeping views out over Kareebosrand Conservancy, with the Magaliesberg range in the hazy blue distance. The roads are lined with dams, tall trees, cattle paddocks and open fields, giving this area the feel of pastoral Europe.

Horse riding can be arranged via SA Trails. Northern Farm is a birding paradise. There are also hiking/walking opportunities and dog-sledding.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Purchase a single entry ticket at R12 for the day at the entrance to Northern Farm, or a discounted ticket (R120) for 20 entries at R6 per ride from SA Trails at the "Bunkhouse" which is located 3km south of Northern Farm.
FACILITIES: Local bicycle clubs are involved in upgrading existing facilities, picnicking may be done at the various dams on the property as well as bird-watching from a bird-hide. No swimming is allowed. Rudimentary ablutions. No restaurants on site.
BEWARE OF: Cycling alone as the area is not securely fenced off.
