[ OVERVIEW ]

The first race took place in 2003 and attracted over 300 riders. The race starts at Amalienstein Mission and the 25km also starts here and finishes together with the 80km one in Ladismith at the School. Amalienstein is 25m outside Ladismith on Route 62. The 25km route forms part of the longer route and the ride up and back inside Seweweeks Poort is absolutely stunning. You don’t need special permits to ride in the Poort itself but if you want to ride the dual single tracks, which are on private land – get in touch with the Race Organizers.


[ FAST FACTS ]

GRADING: The 80km is moderate. The 25km is easy.

DURATION: 1 hr 20min for the 25km and 5 hr 20min for the 80km.

CONFIGURATION : The first 50km follows is a there and back – beautiful – ride up and down the Poort. Though, there is a circular loop after you exit the Poort after 12km which Brings you back to the Poort for the return trip to Amalienstein. From here you Enter Farms and stunning sections past some Historic places back to Ladysmith.

START POINT: In front of the Museum in Amalienstein – Mission town – at 33º 29' 033" South and 21º 27' 35" East.

TERRAIN: 95% Gravel road and 5% Farm tracks

FACILITIES: Parking at Amalienstein Mission. Restaurant and friendly locals.

BEWARE OF: Falling rocks in rainy conditions and take wet/cold weather clothing. Chill out!
