OVERVIEW Umbhaba Lodge lies on a hillside overlooking the Sabie Valley, on the edge of the Drakensberg escarpment. Suitable for intermediate to fit riders, this trail traverses both the 100-ha Umbhaba property and neighbouring properties. On your bike The ride is along jeep track and singletrack – the essence of mountain-biking at its best. A mix of indigenous flora and fauna, citrus orchards, macadamia nuts, litchi, mango and banana plantations abound in this area and make the ride that much more interesting.Off the bike Umbhaba Lodge is a luxury destination so once off your bike unwind and be pampered at de Rust, Umbhaba’s very own health and beauty spa. From Johannesburg: Take the N12 highway towards eMalahleni (Witbank), after which the road becomes the N4 to Nelspruit. Stay on the N4, passing eMalahleni (Witbank), the Middelburg toll gate (R33,00), Shell Ultra City, Middelburg, Belfast, Engen One Stop, Milly's Star Stop, Machadodorp and the Machadodorp toll gate (R49,00), Waterval Boven, Waterval Onder and the Sappi Station at Ngodwana. When entering Nelspruit, carry on past the first traffic light and turn left at the second set of traffic lights onto the R40 road. Proceed on the R40 to White River. Upon entering White River, turn left at the first traffic light, marked Uplands College. Approx. 200 m. further is the next traffic light, turn right (marked Hazyview, Baghdad Cafe, Kruger National Park). Pass the first traffic light. At the second traffic light, the road connects with the R40. Turn left towards Hazyview. Carry on straight on the R40. Proceed straight on towards Hazyview and about 43 km after White River (2 km before Hazyview) on the left hand side of the road, you will see the Lodge. |
