OVERVIEW The Vlei Cycle Park is a safe venue with some really stunning trails to suit all levels of expertise and fitness from 4.5km for the novice to 12km for those who enjoy a technical challenge, plus loops to set your own goals. You can enjoy nature as you ride or walk, with various species of small animals and prolific birdlife to be seen. The trails were designed with the goal of making 80% rideable by 80% of the cyclists. The 20% adrenalin trails are challenges at most levels. On your bike The trails are colour coded as follows: The 4km Yellow trail is perfect for novice and beginner riders. There are optional Jeep tracks and single-tracks to take as you are gaining confidence in your abilities. The Green trail is slightly more challenging and rated intermediate. This is not just a simple ride; there is space for loads of fun. The trail is a circular 11km route that includes Jeep tracks, single-tracks and forest trails all put together via some interesting hills for climbing and descents. Finally for the big boys, the Blue and Black trails are extensions on the Green trail. While the Blue trail is technically challenging, it is not out of range. The Black trail however is an 'own risk, adrenaline...ouch' guarantee.
Off the bike The Shack is our very own ablution & day picnic facility for the cyclists and their families. This venue is available for team-building, functions, children's cycling parties or just a relaxed day out in the countryside if cycling is not on your agenda. Rietvlei Zoo Farm also has a number of other facilities such as a children's zoo and fishing. The perfect cycling family venue.
